Green Day will play Wembley Stadium for the first time ever in their upcoming UK tour.

The US punk rockers will perform at the north London venue on June 19 next year, and will be warming up with a date at Manchester’s Lancashire County Cricket Ground on June 16.

It is Green Day‘s first UK stadium shows since their two-night stand at Milton Keynes National Bowl in 2005.

He is just eight-years-old but already little Oscar Elliott is rocking with the best of them after appearing on stage with one of the world’s biggest bands.

The youngster was inadvertently guest of honour at a Green Day gig at London’s O2 arena when he was invited on stage by the band’s front man.

Oscar, who was at his very first concert, was lifted towards the stage by the crowd before landing in front of the punk band’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong.

With his father, Jason Elliott, in the crowd, Armstrong whispered something unintelligible to Oscar then pushed him over as explosions lit up the stage and the crowd went wild.

“It was obvious it was set up but it was just fantastic,” Mr Elliot, 40, said. “Half way through the concert Billie Joe stopped in the middle of a song, East Jesus, when he said ‘I need a child, bring me a child.’”

I was whistling and shouting and he said ‘bring that child now.’

“I was trying to explain to Oscar that things like that just don’t happen. Now he thinks it’s the coolest thing in the world and his friends can’t believe it.”

Oscar and his father were sat at the right of the stage towards the front when the excitement began.

The little boy was then delivered safely back to his seat by security guards where the pair enjoyed the rest of the show.

Mr Elliott said the family, from Wicklewood near Wymondham, had discussed whether Oscar was old enough to go to the concert on Saturday, October 24, but decided to give it a chance.

Oscar, a pupil at Wicklewood Primary, who lives with his mother, father and 10-year-old sister, said he was very excited to have been on stage at such a big gig.

He said: “While the drummer and guitarists were playing a bit on their own, the singer came over to where we were sitting and said he was looking for some children, and picked me and another boy.

“When the drummer shouted one, two, three, four, the lead singer pushed us back and lots of fireworks went off. It was really exciting. He had told us beforehand that he was going to push us and the stage would open, and I was more worried about the 25,000 people watching than being pushed. All my friends think it’s really cool.”

Green Day have announced details of two UK stadium shows in summer 2010.

The Californian three-piece will play Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground (16 June) and London’s Wembley Stadium (19 June).

Tickets for the shows go on sale at 9am on Friday 6 November.

Billie Joe Armstrong and co have just completed a UK arena tour and also played a tiny midnight show last night (1 November) at London’s Garage venue under their alias Foxboro Hot Tubs.

The band famously played two huge gigs at Milton Keynes National Bowl in 2005 following the success of their album American idiot.

Latest album 21st Century Breakdown was released in May.

The three piece- who are nominated for Best Rock- played Know Your Enemy and Minority to start EMA proceedings in the German capital.

Backed by huge flames singer Billie Joe left the stage during the first track to run right through the crowd.

Hostess Katy Perry then took to the Katy Kat Club in front of 9,000 audience members wearing a stunning outfit.

She performed a medley of the Best Song nominees – including her own unique cabaret-style versions of Beyonce’s Halo and Kings Of Leon’s Use Somebody.

Lady Gaga and Kings of Leon are up for the most awards tonight.

Performers still left to play include U2, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Shakira and Leona Lewis.

Green Day will perform on Carson Daly’s New Year’s Eve TV special.

The Grammy-winning band will take to the stage at New York’s Times Square for NBC’s New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly, reports The AP.

The two-hour special will be broadcast live in high definition.

“We have built a great tradition of having the best and biggest music acts on our New Year’s Eve live broadcast; having Green Day this year only solidifies that. I’m beyond excited,” said Daly.

Blige and Keith Urban all performing on one stage,” AMAs producer Larry Klein said in a statement. “Each year, we try to have a variety of artists and sounds, and I think these performers really showcase the depth of what this show brings to its fans.”

The night’s other big performers include Lady Gaga, Eminem, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys and the Black Eyed Peas.

The awards show will feature an array of nominees determined by data from Nielsen SoundScan radio and retail figures, with Taylor Swift in the lead with six nominations, followed by Eminem and the late Michael Jackson at five apiece. Though Jackson had not released new material for nearly a decade at the time of his passing, his nominations are based on the strong sales of his catalog albums following his death.
